SELEUKID KINGS. Antiochos III ‘the Great’, 223-187 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.62 g, 12 h), uncertain mint in Phrygia (Laodikeia on the Lykos?), circa 203-197. Diademed head of Antiochos III to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his left on grounded bow. HGC 9, 447i. SC -, cf. 998. An apparently unrecorded variety with no control marks. Nicely toned and with an impressive portrait. Struck from a slightly worn reverse die, otherwise, extremely fine.
